The Mezhyhirya Park has started the process of transferring assets seized in the Yanukovych case to the state. This was stated by the park’s spokeswomanIryna Holovatenko in a comment to Interfax-Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

“An interdepartmental commission consisting of representatives of the special administration of the Mezhyhirya Park, together with the Asset Recovery and Management Agency, with the participation of representatives of the State Property Fund of Ukraine and the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, has begun work on the transfer of the seized property, which was transferred to the management of the ARMA by a court decision,”

– the official said.

According to her, a representative of the NGO Mezhyhiria, which has been responsible for the preservation of the park’s property since 2014, joined the commission. This made it possible to unblock the situation that arose on 29 April, when unknown persons prevented the opening of the park.

Golovatenko noted that Mezhyhirya Park will be closed to the public until the commission’s work is completed, but the commission is doing everything possible to speed up the process.

“Today, we have agreed to have several subcommittees working simultaneously to speed up the transfer of property and open the park to visitors. We are currently working on the inspection of energy facilities as a matter of priority,”

– golovatenko added.

Mezhyhirya

“Mezhyhirya is the former residence of Viktor Yanukovych in the village of Novi Petrivtsi, Vyshgorod district, Kyiv region, which he occupied from 2002 to 2014. Until 1935, it was an Orthodox monastery and then a state residence. In 2007, during Yanukovych’s presidency, Mezhyhirya was transferred to private ownership. on 14 July 2023, Mezhyhirya was returned to state ownership, and a new nature reserve was created on its territory, covering 138.6 hectares of land.

After the Revolution of Dignity, an NGO took over the management of the park. According to the prosecutor’s office, “an individual, a representative of an NGO, who has been located in the park and has been managing the seized property of Mezhyhiria for more than 10 years, has been responsible for the storage of the seized property since 2014 and on his own initiative.” It was a misunderstanding between the state and the organisation that led to the reported conflict.

The official opening of the Mezhyhiria State Park is scheduled for May.
