The Ministry of Health and the Armed Forces of Ukraine discussed the mechanism of disarmament of doctors for the needs of the army. This is reported on the website of the Ministry of Health, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports

The “armor” will be removed at the request of the Ministry of Defense and the Medical Forces Command. At the same time, the Ministry of Health, in coordination with health departments, will compile lists of required medical workers.

It is planned that heads of medical institutions will submit requests for unbooking through the Diia portal. After the “armor” is removed, the specialists will be mobilized to the Armed Forces or other military formations to fill medical positions where there is a need. They will be contracted for one year.

Health Minister Viktor Lyashko assured that the decision to disarm will be made “taking into account real needs.” According to him, it is important to maintain a balance so that the medical system works effectively for both the front and the rear.

Lyashko also noted that more than 75% of wounded soldiers are treated in civilian medical facilities.

As a reminder, the Government has recently allowed 100% of healthcare workers in state and municipal healthcare facilities, public health facilities, institutions that provide forensic medical and forensic psychiatric examinations, and blood centers to be booked, for whom working in the relevant institutions is their main job. At the same time, the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the defense sector for medical personnel who can be mobilized from civilian medical institutions will be met through the mechanism of disarmament of individual medical workers who are currently needed.

Previously, medical institutions that were recognized as critical could only reserve up to 50% of men liable for military service, and an increase in this share was possible only by a separate decision of the Minister of Defense.

A significant part of people liable for military service in medical institutions are women doctors. Their number used to be taken into account when determining the share of persons liable for military service that could be booked. However, this rule has been changed, and the percentage of reservations is calculated exclusively from the number of men liable for military service. Therefore, to ensure proper operation, hospitals would have to constantly apply for additional permits to book more than 50% of men liable for military service.
