As part of the PURL: Ukraine has unlocked another source of funding for defense needs

During the NATO Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Helsingborg, Ukraine secured new commitments from its partners regarding contributions to the PURL initiative. In addition, another source of funding was secured, which will help cover part of the initiative’s needs. Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga noted this in a comment to “Ukrinform,” as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to him, during negotiations at the NATO ministerial meeting in Sweden, one of the key tasks set for the Ukrainian delegation by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was the development of the PURL program.
“This is a critically important initiative for the procurement of American weapons, which covers the lion’s share of Ukraine’s needs for protection against Russian ballistic strikes. Following the negotiations, we have new commitments regarding contributions. I will not disclose specific amounts or countries at this time; announcements will follow later. In addition, we have unlocked another source of funding, which will allow us to cover another portion of the needs under the PURL,” Sibiga noted.
He added that given the scale of Russian terror, work on replenishing the PURL continues, and Ukraine calls on its partners to continue their support.
The Foreign Minister expressed gratitude to all allies making critical contributions to the PURL, to NATO for administering this program, and to Alliance Secretary General Mark Rutte for his work in filling it.
As is known, the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative is a mechanism focused on supplying Ukraine with weapons from a list of priority needs. It enables NATO member states to finance the supply of U.S. weapons and technologies through voluntary contributions.
