A research institute caught fire in Irkutsk, Russia: details

A major fire has broken out at a research institute in Irkutsk, Russia. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing Russian propaganda media.

According to media reports, the building of the Research Institute of Precious and Rare Metals and Diamonds (IRGIREDMET) on Gagarin Boulevard is on fire. The fire started in one of the offices on the fourth floor.

The fire has already spread to 700 square meters. Emergency responders from the Ministry of Emergency Situations arrived at the scene promptly. Ten pieces of specialized equipment are being used to extinguish the fire.

Local journalists report that the fire soon spread to the entire top floor—flames were bursting out of the windows.

IRGIREDMET consists of seven specialized technical laboratories, a testing and analytical center, an engineering and commercial center, a design department, an industrial safety department, and a semi-industrial facility. The organization has approximately 300 employees.
