The concept of a federal system for training Russian citizens for military service has been extended from 2030 to 2036.

This is stated in a decree of the Russian government, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports, citing Russian media.

The document states that the number of citizens who do not meet the requirements of military service for health and physical development should decrease in the regions of Russia to 17.5% in 2030 and to 16% in 2036.

In addition, the decree envisages a further increase in the rate of citizens’ fitness for military service, as well as an increase in the share of citizens of conscription age who systematically engage in physical education and sports to 85% by 2030 and 90% by 2036.

The goals, objectives and principles of the system of preparing citizens for military service have also been expanded.

This year’s spring conscription takes place from April 1 to July 15, with about 160,000 people expected to be drafted. Urgent service for 12 months was introduced in Russia in 2008. As a result, a record number of conscripts were drafted in 2009 – 305,600 people.

After that, the number of conscripts began to decline systematically. In 2011, 218.7 thousand people were drafted. For the next 27 conscripts, the number ranged from 120 thousand to 150 thousand people.
