Proceedings are underway in Yermak: what is known about the visit by NABU and SAPO

11 May 21:01

On the evening of May 11, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) are reportedly conducting procedural actions against Andriy Yermak, the former head of the Office of the President.

This was reported by MP Yaroslav Zheleznyak, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

Zheleznyak noted that there is currently no confirmation that Andriy Yermak has been served with a notice of suspicion, and it is likely that only searches are taking place.

“Perhaps it is just a search. For now, several sources are reporting exactly that. This certainly makes the situation interesting, but it leaves a sense of an unfinished process,” he wrote.

According to media reports , anti-corruption authorities are seeking access to Yermak’s cell phone to obtain potential evidence in the case.

“The NABU paid a visit to Yermak. Investigative actions are underway. What’s interesting is the location. It’s all happening near the Sports Palace. Yermak set up a gym there. As we remember, we watched ‘Gentlemen of Fortune’ there,” wrote MP Oleksiy Honcharenko.

As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy previously commented on the dismissal of Andriy Yermak from his position as head of the Office of the President, stating that this decision was not related to the scandalous “Midas case,” which concerns an investigation into corruption in the energy sector. According to the head of state, he had other compelling reasons for the personnel changes.

UPDATE: As reported by the agency, NABU and the SAPO have exposed an organized group involved in the laundering of 460 million hryvnias through an elite construction project near Kyiv.

One of its members—the former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine—was notified of the charges.

Charge: Part 3 of Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Urgent investigative actions are ongoing.

Andriy Yermak, responding to journalists’ questions about the allegations, stated:

“I will not comment on anything at this time. Once the investigative actions are complete, I will provide a statement.”

When asked to clarify his involvement with the “Dynasty” cooperative, Yermak replied that he owns no houses, only one apartment and one car.

When asked by “Schemes” about his nickname “The Surgeon” on the tapes, he noted:

“My name is Andriy Yermak; I have no other name.”

NABU Raids and the “Midas” Case: What Is Known

On November 28, 2025, detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and prosecutors from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) conducted searches at the office of Andriy Yermak, then-head of the Office of the President.

On the same day, Yermak submitted his resignation, which was signed by the president.

The searches may have been related to the investigation of the so-called “Midas case,” which concerns possible corruption schemes in the energy sector. As part of this investigation, investigators are examining the activities of a number of former high-ranking officials and businessmen, including Timur Mindich, co-owner of the “Kvartal-95” studio.

However, the president emphasized that this particular investigation was not the reason for the personnel decision.

Yermak’s resignation was one of the most high-profile personnel changes

Andriy Yermak headed the Office of the President of Ukraine and was one of the state’s key representatives on the international stage, particularly in negotiations with allies regarding military and financial support.

His dismissal caused a significant stir both in Ukraine and among international partners, as he played a crucial role in diplomatic processes during the full-scale war.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, commenting on this decision, made it clear that the personnel changes were driven by internal management considerations, rather than anti-corruption investigations or political pressure.
