Ukraine attacked a drone manufacturing plant in Russia’s Rostov Oblast

19 April 12:27

On the night of April 19, the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck the Atlant Aero facility in Taganrog, Rostov Oblast, Russia, which is engaged in the full cycle of design, manufacture, and testing of strike and reconnaissance drones.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The attack caused a fire on the facility’s grounds, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

This plant manufactures “Molniya” drones, as well as components for the “Orion” heavy drone (the aircraft weighs about a ton, with a payload of up to 250 kg). The Orion can carry aerial photography systems, radio-technical reconnaissance modules, optoelectronic systems, guided KAB-20 aerial bombs, and Kh-50 and Kh-UAV missiles. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized that striking this facility would reduce the Russian army’s ability to produce drones and weaken its capacity to strike civilian targets in Ukraine.

Earlier, monitoring channels reported that the target of the attack could have been the former Taganrog Automobile Plant (TagAZ), where Atlant Aero LLC is located. Astra, after analyzing footage from the scene, also confirmed that the strike hit this facility. “Atlant Aero” had already been attacked previously—in January and March 2026.

Yuri Slyusar, governor of the Rostov region, confirmed the missile attack on the region. According to him, three people sought medical attention in Taganrog, “commercial infrastructure” was damaged, and a fire broke out in the warehouse area.
