Moldova is offering a 50% discount on the transit of Ukrainian cargo by rail; the new arrangement is in effect from August 10 through the end of the year. This was announced by Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
“Following a recent conversation with Moldovan Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, we reached an agreement on a 50% discount on the transit of Ukrainian cargo by rail,” he wrote on Telegram.
Koretsky also noted that the new arrangement is in effect from August 10 through the end of 2026.
“This is yet another practical solution for Ukrainian exporters amid Russia’s terror in the Black Sea,” he noted.

In addition, starting August 17, pursuant to an agreement between the two countries, the route of the Kyiv–Chisinau train will change. This will make the transfer to Chisinau Airport more convenient and significantly faster for Ukrainians, Koretskyi said.
“I thank the Moldovan government for the decisions it has made. We are working to expand mutually beneficial cooperation between Ukraine and Moldova,” he wrote.
Earlier reports indicated that Ukraine and Moldova are discussing rail transit of grain to the Romanian port of Constanța. Kyiv requested a 50% discount on transportation costs.
As a reminder, on July 23, the entry of ships into Ukraine’s Black Sea ports was suspended due to the threat of Russian shelling. This was preceded by weeks of airstrikes on Ukrainian Black Sea ports.
