The fourth since early August: Russian oil refinery halts operations after drone strike

Forteinvest’s “Orsknaftorgsintez” oil refinery halted crude oil processing on August 11 due to a fire that broke out following an attack by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), two industry sources told Reuters, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
Orenburg Region Governor Yevgeny Solntsev said on Tuesday that “a fire broke out at one of the industrial facilities as a result of falling UAV debris,” but did not specify which one.
According to the sources, the drone strike damaged primary and secondary oil refining facilities, including the ELOU-AVT-5 primary refinery.
On Wednesday, Solntsev wrote on his official Telegram channel that restrictions on fuel sales to individuals and businesses are being imposed in the region.
“The region is facing a difficult situation with fuel. The enemy’s latest terrorist attack has created certain problems for us,” the governor’s statement reads.
The Orsk Oil Refinery, with a capacity of 5.7 million metric tons and an annual output of 1.8 million metric tons of diesel fuel and 600,000 metric tons of gasoline, became the fourth Russian oil refinery to halt production in August.
On August 10, Zapsibneftekhim ceased processing feedstock “Sibura” in the Tyumen region is the country’s largest petrochemical complex, producing 2.5 million metric tons of polymers and 6 million metric tons of LPG annually. On August 5, Rosneft’s Saratov refinery halted oil processing, and on August 3, Lukoil’s Volgograd refinery did the same. The latter ranks among the top 10 in Russia in terms of capacity and accounts for nearly 5% of the country’s total oil refining.
