Ukraine Will Receive 125 Million Euros from Ireland: How the Funds Will Be Used

Irish Prime Minister Micheál Martin and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Helen McEntee announced on Thursday, July 23, a new package of bilateral support for Ukraine totaling EUR125 million for 2026, according to a press release from the Irish government, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
“This assistance includes the allocation of 100 million euros for the supply of priority non-lethal military equipment to Ukraine. It also includes the allocation of 25 million euros to support the restoration and protection of Ukraine’s critical infrastructure, with a particular focus on the energy sector ahead of winter,” the statement reads.
Speaking in Kyiv, Martin stated that the people of Ireland stand in solidarity with Ukraine and its people in the fight against Russia’s immoral and unprovoked war of aggression.
“Seeing firsthand the consequences of Russia’s campaign of airstrikes on Ukrainian cities is truly horrifying. The support announced today will help Ukraine defend itself against these attacks and save civilian lives. It will also help Ukraine prepare for the coming winter by protecting and restoring its energy infrastructure,” he noted.
Martin emphasized that support for Ukraine is a top priority for the Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU, and that Ireland will continue to work with EU and international partners to achieve a just and lasting peace and security for Ukraine based on the principles of the UN Charter, which are rooted in justice and accountability.
McEnty, in turn, stressed that Ireland will work to increase pressure on Russia.
“Russia is also once again cynically targeting Ukraine’s critical infrastructure on the eve of winter. Last winter, millions of people were left without heat and electricity at temperatures of -20 °C. Our support will help mitigate these losses and contribute to efforts to strengthen resilience ahead of the coming winter. We are committed to supporting Ukraine’s path toward EU membership,” she noted.

Michal Martin’s Visit to Kyiv
As a reminder, Micheál Martin arrived in Kyiv this morning.
Speaking ahead of the visit, Martin noted that he is making this trip at the start of Ireland’s EU presidency “to underscore the unwavering solidarity of the EU and Ireland with the government and people of Ukraine.” Martin’s visit comes three weeks after Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Dublin to mark the start of Ireland’s EU presidency. At that time, Martin announced that his country was nearing the completion of an investigation into reports of exports to Russia of alumina—a raw material used in aluminum production. The Irish prime minister also stated that Ukrainians deserve EU membership and expressed hope that Ukraine’s difficulties with its neighbors on this path would be overcome.
