On the night of June 7–8, the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched a massive drone attack on Novorossiysk, according to the Krasnodar Krai Operational Headquarters. An oil transshipment complex was hit, and a fire broke out on the site. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing Russian propaganda media.
“There are no casualties. 130 people and 39 pieces of equipment are involved in extinguishing the fire,” the operational headquarters noted.
As Astra has established, the attack targeted the tank farm of the “Sheshkharis” transshipment complex, which is the largest in southern Russia. It is the terminus of Transneft’s main oil pipelines in the Krasnodar Krai. The facility handles the receipt, storage, and export shipment of oil and petroleum products to tankers. Prior to this, “Sheshkharis” was attacked in May, April, and early March. In May, the strike hit the tank farm.
Also last night, Ukrainian drones attacked the Volgograd region.
“As a result of debris falling on the territory of the Linear Production and Dispatch Service (LPD) in the Zhirnovsky District, a fire broke out, which was quickly extinguished. There were no casualties,” said the region’s governor, Andriy Bocharov.
This refers to the “Chervony Yar” LPS of the Volgograd Regional Oil Pipeline Administration (ROPA), Astra clarifies. This station pumps up to 62.6 million tons of oil per year for delivery to the port of Novorossiysk.
According to a report from the Russian Ministry of Defense, over the course of the night, Russian air defense forces “intercepted and destroyed” 310 Ukrainian aircraft-type drones over Russian territory. In particular, the drones were spotted over the Belgorod, Bryansk, Rostov, Volgograd, Saratov, Tula, Ryazan, and Moscow regions, as well as over the Krasnodar Krai. In addition, drones were intercepted over the annexed Crimea and the waters of the Black and Azov Seas.
Over the past month, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have intensified strikes on Russian oil infrastructure. In May, the Ukrainian military carried out 28 strikes against it, of which 15 targeted oil refineries, seven targeted oil pipelines, and six targeted ports, according to Bloomberg. The total number of attacks broke the previous record, set in December 2025, when 26 oil facilities were targeted.
