Drones belonging to the Ukrainian Armed Forces have once again attacked the border city of Belgorod, Belgorod Region Governor Alexander Shuvaev reported on Sunday, August 9. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing DW.
“At this time, we have received reports of 13 casualties, including two children, as a result of the strikes,” he wrote.
According to preliminary data, “more than four apartment buildings, an administrative building, and social and commercial facilities” were damaged. Information on other consequences is being clarified, Shuvaev added.
Photos and videos of the fires in Belgorod were published by the Ukrainian OSINT channel Exilenova. As of the time of publication, neither the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine nor the Russian Ministry of Defense had commented on the attack.
The targets of the attack may have been local thermal power plants and an FSB building
According to OSINT analysts, based on images published by eyewitnesses, the Belgorod regional office of the Russian FSB is located between the three damaged high-rise buildings in the city.
In addition, the fourth apartment building damaged by the Ukrainian attack is located 600 meters from the Belgorod Thermal Power Plant, according to Astra. Photos obtained by the publication show that the top two floors of this building were damaged.
