No buyers were found: Readeat’s owner is closing two of its three bookstores

The Readeat bookstores near the “Arsenalska” metro station and in the “Comfort Town” residential complex in Kyiv will close in September. Their last day of operation will be September 15, 2026. The chain’s founder, Dmytro Feliksov, told Forbes Ukraine about this. Previously, the entrepreneur had been in talks to sell the locations, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
In July, Dmytro Feliksov, founder of the Readeat bookstore chain and the ticket operator Concert.ua, stated that he wanted to sell two bookstores—the one near the “Arsenalska” metro station and the one in the “Comfort Town” residential complex. According to him, these locations are barely breaking even, collectively accounting for 5% of the chain’s total revenue.
He noted that he is in negotiations with potential buyers. Feliksov planned to sell the location in the “Comfort Town” residential complex for 2 million hryvnias, and the bookstore-café near the “Arsenalska” metro station for 3 million hryvnias.
As of August, he had not been able to find buyers. “There are no interesting offers,” Feliksov said. The entrepreneur is closing both bookstores; they will remain open until September 15.
Over the course of three years, Readeat has grown to include three bookstores in the capital and an online store. The first location opened on Antonovych Street in early September 2023, and another opened in the “Comfort Town” residential complex in the spring of 2024. The bookstore near the “Arsenalska” metro station began operations in the fall of 2025.
