Ukrposhta has launched a new parcel pickup service: how to pick up your package without waiting in line

Ukrposhta has launched a new format for parcel pickup at its branches. Now, some parcels can be picked up without waiting in the general line and without speaking to a clerk. To facilitate this, special quick-pickup lockers are being installed at the branches. This was reported on the Ukrposhta website, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
The company explains that the new format is intended to separate customer flows: those who come solely to pick up a package, and those who use other services—such as paying utility bills, making money transfers, or receiving other services at the branch.
How the express pickup lockers work
Under the new format, Ukrposhta automatically directs some shipments to be picked up via special lockers at branches.
The customer receives an SMS message with an access code. After that, they go to the branch, open their section, and pick up the package themselves.
There is no need to speak with a clerk in this case. This allows customers to avoid the general line and receive their packages faster.
How the new format differs from parcel lockers
Express pickup lockers are not traditional parcel lockers. They are installed directly inside Ukrposhta branches and operate during branch hours.
This means you can’t pick up a package 24/7, but only when the branch is open. At the same time, this format allows customers who don’t need additional operator services to receive their packages faster.
The usual service format at branches also remains available.
What Ukrposhta Says
Ihor Smilianskyi, CEO of JSC “Ukrposhta,” explained that the company has long been looking for a way to separate customer flows at branches.
“We have long been looking for a way to separate customer flows: those who come only to pick up a package and those who use other services—from utility bill payments to international money transfers. Testing is still ongoing, but it is already clear that it is possible to pick up a package at Ukrposhta without waiting in line,” said Smiliansky.
According to the company, testing of the new format is still ongoing, but initial results already show that the service can reduce wait times for customers.
Where the new format is already in use
In the first phase, express pickup kiosks will operate in 400 Ukrposhta branches.
First and foremost, the new format is being launched in cities with populations over one million and regional centers, where the workload on branches is traditionally higher.
In Kyiv and the Kyiv region, the pilot project has already begun. The first 120 express pickup kiosks have been installed there.
How to pick up a package without waiting in line
To receive a shipment via an express pickup locker, the customer must wait for an SMS message from Ukrposhta.
Here’s how it works:
- receive an SMS with an access code;
- go to the post office during its business hours;
- locate the express pickup locker;
- enter or use the access code;
- open your compartment;
- pick up the package without speaking to an agent.
If the shipment was not sent to the express pickup locker, you can receive it in the usual way—through an operator at the branch.
