A cold snap is expected to hit Ukraine on Thursday, May 28. Most regions will see highs of up to 18 degrees during the day. The day will also be cloudy with some sunny intervals. This is according to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian"
On Thursday, the weather in Ukraine will change significantly. A cold air mass from Scandinavia will move into the country, pushing the warm air mainly toward the southern regions. As a result, air temperatures will drop noticeably in most regions.
Forecasters warn that Ukraine will be in a low-pressure system and under the influence of atmospheric fronts. Therefore, cloudy, rainy, and windy weather is expected across almost the entire country.
Where will it rain on May 28?
On the night of May 28, brief showers are forecast for southern and eastern Ukraine. During the day, precipitation will spread to almost the entire country.
Rain is expected in most regions, except for the southern regions, Zakarpattia, and Prykarpattia. Thunderstorms are possible in some areas.
Due to the passage of atmospheric fronts, the weather will be unstable: in some regions, rain may start quickly and stop just as quickly.
Ukrainians have been warned about strong winds
On May 28, the wind will be northwesterly, 7–12 meters per second. In most regions, forecasters predict strong gusts of 15–20 meters per second.
Due to stormy winds, a Level I (yellow) danger alert has been issued in Ukraine. The warning does not apply to Zakarpattia, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions, as well as Crimea.
Such weather conditions may complicate the work of energy, construction, and utility companies, as well as traffic. Ukrainians are advised to be careful outdoors, avoid parking cars under trees, and stay away from advertising structures, power lines, and old buildings.
What will the temperature be on May 28?
In most regions, the air temperature will drop to 5–10 degrees at night. During the day, temperatures are expected to reach only 13–18 degrees.
It will be warmest in southern Ukraine. There, temperatures are forecast to be 11–16 degrees at night and 17–22 degrees during the day.
After the previous warmer days, this cold snap will be noticeable, especially due to the wind and rain. Even where thermometers show 15–18 degrees, the weather may feel significantly cooler due to gusts of wind.

Cool and unsettled weather is also expected in Kyiv on May 28. Daytime temperatures will range from 14 to 16 degrees.
Short-lived showers and gusty winds are possible in the capital. Due to the drop in temperature, Kyiv residents should dress warmer, especially those planning to spend a long time outdoors.
