The state budget for 2024 provides UAH 3 billion for the programme of compensation for humanitarian demining. The state will compensate 80% of the cost of demining to farmers working on their own or leased land.
The price for demining services will be determined at an open tender in the Prozorro system. Compensation will be provided only once per contaminated site.

“In less than a year, Ukraine has increased its demining capabilities many times over and returned 18,000 km2 of land to use after surveying. The launch of the compensation programme for farmers should give an even greater impetus to the development of the humanitarian demining market, as the state creates additional financial motivation to clear land of explosive ordnance for both owners and tenants, and for businesses that can make money from demining,”
– explained Deputy Minister of Economy of Ukraine Ihor Bezkaravaynyi.
Farmers against whom Ukraine has imposed sanctions or whose ultimate owners are citizens of the aggressor country willnot be eligible for compensation.
Farmers in liquidation or bankruptcy, as well as those with tax debts, will also not be able to receive compensation.
156,000 km2 ofUkrainian territory remain suspected to be contaminated. In particular, these are agricultural lands. The goal of the Ministry of Economy of Ukraine is to clean up 80% of the contaminated land in 10 years and make it safe for use.
Earlier, the SES named the most mined regions of Ukraine, namely: Kharkiv, Donetsk and Kherson regions.
