In Ukraine, 15–20% of bakeries have suffered destruction and damage

Since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, approximately 15–20% of bakeries have suffered destruction or damage, said Oleksandr Taranenko, first vice president of the All-Ukrainian Bakers’ Association (VAP), in an interview at the “Novyny.Live” studio, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

“During the war, quite a few bakeries have been partially or completely destroyed. To one degree or another, 15–20% of bakeries have been affected,” Taranenko said.

According to him, this has had virtually no impact on prices, since baked goods are regional products and are mostly sold within a 200–300-kilometer radius.

Taranenko also added that restoring a bakery, even with the necessary financial resources, takes about a year, since most of the equipment is custom-made.
