Carrot prices are rising in Ukraine: the main reasons
28 May 13:18
Prices for last year’s carrots continue to rise in Ukraine, according to analysts from the EastFruit project, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
Experts attribute the positive price trend to the seasonal depletion of high-quality stock on farms. According to market participants, wholesale companies are increasingly facing difficulties in procuring the necessary volumes of high-quality carrots.

Currently, producers are already managing to sell last year’s carrots at a price of 17–25 UAH/kg ($0.38–0.56/kg), which is on average 27% more expensive than at the end of last week. For comparison: just a week ago, prices in this segment did not exceed 20 UAH/kg ($0.45/kg).
According to farmers, trading activity in Ukraine’s root vegetable market has picked up somewhat, which, against the backdrop of a seasonal reduction in local farm inventories, has led to a shortage of high-quality carrots on the market. In this situation, producers have been able to raise their selling prices again.
At the same time, it is worth noting that, despite the increase, the price of this product in Ukraine currently remains lower than last season. For instance, at the end of May 2025, Ukrainian farmers were selling this product at an average price 84% higher than it is now.
