Carrot prices are rising in Ukraine: the main reasons

21 May 16:14

Ukraine has seen another rise in prices for last year’s carrots this week, according to analysts from the EastFruit project, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".

According to farmers, trading activity in this segment has increased significantly, which, against the backdrop of a seasonal reduction in stocks of this product at local farms, has led to a shortage of high-quality root vegetables on the domestic market. In the current situation, producers have been able to continue raising the selling prices of their products.

Currently, farmers are already selling last year’s carrots in the range of 13–20 UAH/kg ($0.29–0.45/kg), which is on average 34% higher than at the end of last week.

Market participants attribute the latest price increase for 2025 harvest vegetables to a noticeable surge in demand from wholesale companies and retail chains. At the same time, stocks of high-quality carrots at local farms are already practically depleted, which also significantly supports further price growth in this segment.

However, despite the latest price increase, carrots in Ukraine are currently, on average, 56% cheaper than during the same period last year. Most key market players agree that the positive price trend will continue, though the pace of growth may not be as rapid.
