Teachers are demanding the abolition of the new approach to assessing students’ learning outcomes in accordance with the State Standard of Basic Secondary Education.

The petition has gained 25,000 signatures and is now to be considered by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.

An electronic petition calling for the abolition of the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine “On Approval of Recommendations for Assessment of Learning Outcomes” has gained more than 25 thousand signatures.

The author of the petition, Vasyl Petrashchuk, believes that the new recommendations do not improve the quality of education, but only increase the bureaucratic burden on teachers. He called on the government to reconsider the approach to student assessment and develop simpler and more effective methods.

The position is supported by the majority of educators. According to a survey of nearly 9,000 teachers on the Osvita.ua website, 97% of respondents believe that level-based assessment under the NUS does not improve the quality of education in schools.

The Cabinet of Ministers has ten working days to consider the petition and publish a response.

As a reminder, Ukraine has officially canceled the awarding of gold and silver medals to 11th grade graduates. From now on, the wording “with honors” will be used in education documents.
