A Ukrainian oil producer won a lawsuit against Russia for 486 million

The Commercial Court of Odesa Oblast has ruled to recover 486 million hryvnias in damages from the Russian Federation in favor of the Ukrainian oil producer Ekobiotek-Ukraine LLC. This is evidenced by the court’s ruling dated June 24. "Komersant Ukrainian" reports this, citing EP.
EcoBiotech-Ukraine LLC is a plant that produces refined, deodorized oil from natural raw materials and is registered in Kherson. In addition, the company owns a 2-hectare plot of land located near the Tsjurupinsk–Hola Prystan highway.

As a result of the Russian Federation’s armed aggression and the occupation of Kherson and the Kherson region, the company was deprived of the ability to conduct business operations at its own production facilities.
The court’s decision states that in 2022, civilians accompanied by a large number of Russian military personnel removed finished products (containers of oil, etc.) from the warehouse using their own vehicles and transportation that was on the company’s premises.
“After the de-occupation of the city of Kherson and the restoration of access to the enterprise, the plaintiff determined that, as a result of the Russian military’s presence on the enterprise’s premises, the property—including inventory and materials—had been completely looted and destroyed.
Numerous instances of damage to buildings and structures were documented: broken locks, smashed windows, damaged doors, destroyed production equipment, as well as other signs of looting and intentional destruction of property,” according to the court registry records.
According to the experts’ conclusion, the total value of the damage caused by the Russian Federation to the company “Ekobiotek-Ukraine” amounts to 486 million hryvnias.
Judge Marina Sulimovska ruled to recover this amount of property damage from the Russian Federation, represented by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the Federal Treasury of the Russian Federation, the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, in favor of Ecobiotech-Ukraine LLC.
The founder of “Ekobiotek-Ukraine” LLC is Daria Tunik; its director is Volodymyr Naidyshak.
