Water supply in the Kharkiv region is at risk: Russia has struck the Pechenizka Dam with aerial bombs

The Russians dropped six guided bombs on a dam in the Kharkiv region: this is critical infrastructure located on one of the region’s largest reservoirs.

This was reported by Oleg Synyegubov, head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

“The enemy continues to shell our settlements and civilian infrastructure. Today, the occupiers directed six guided bombs at the Pechenizka Dam in the Chuhuiv district,” Synyegubov said.

According to the head of the Regional Military Administration, this is one of the largest reservoirs in the region and a critically important facility.

Almost simultaneously, the enemy launched a combined attack on Kharkiv using “Molniya” and “Shahed” drones, he added.

According to Synyegubov, all services—emergency medical services, the National Police, and State Emergency Service units—are on the ground and are promptly addressing the consequences.

The Pechenizka Dam is a critically important infrastructure facility on the Siverskyi Donets River in the Kharkiv region, providing water supply to the region. The facility is of strategic importance for the stability of the ecosystem and the safety of dozens of settlements.

In September 2022, rocket fire on the dam in the Chuhuiv district posed a threat of widespread flooding of the surrounding areas. Last year, the Russians also damaged this critical infrastructure.
