Enemy strike on “Zaporizhstal”: Seven workers killed; plant operations halted

The Zaporizhstal Steel Mill has completely halted operations following a ballistic strike by the Russian Federation. Seven employees were killed, and 21 were injured. This was reported by the Metinvest Group’s press service, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
“The ballistic strike caught the workers on their way to take cover immediately after the alarm was sounded. Unfortunately, this terrorist attack claimed the lives of seven members of the Zaporizhstal team. Their deaths are a great loss for their families, loved ones, and all of us. In addition, 21 of our colleagues were injured. We are providing them with all necessary assistance and support,” the statement reads.
Metinvest’s Zaporizhzhia enterprises are civilian industrial facilities that provide jobs for tens of thousands of people and produce metallurgical and coke-chemical products.
“As a result of the enemy attack, the power generation units and infrastructure of Metinvest’s Zaporizhzhia facilities, as well as the main and auxiliary facilities of the coke and blast furnace operations, were damaged. Currently, operations at the steel mill have been completely halted, while other production sites are operating at reduced capacity,” the press service summarized.
Specialists are assessing the consequences of the enemy attack, the possibilities and timeline for recovery, and are carrying out the necessary emergency repair work.
Today and tomorrow, flags at Metinvest’s facilities will be flown at half-mast as a sign of mourning for the deceased employees.
