In Alicante, Ukrainians applying for temporary protection are asked to bring a paper copy of the document from the “Reserve+” app, translated into Spanish. According to lawyer Igor Cherezov, this requirement applies not only to men but also to women. Cherezov wrote about this on Facebook, posting a photo of a notice on the door of the National Police station in Alicante, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".
“Today in Spain, all newly arrived refugees—both men and women—were required to provide a paper copy of the ‘Reserve+’ document when applying for temporary protection. (…)
Almost everyone is being turned down! But! So far, this only applies to the acceptance of documents, not to the granting of temporary protection.The following notice is currently posted on the door of the Comisaría Provincial de Policía Nacional de Alicante, where Ukrainians apply for temporary protection:,” his post reads.
What the police are requiring
The published photo shows the notice near the Comisaría Provincial de Policía Nacional de Alicante.
The Spanish text states that upon arrival at the police station, the applicant must:
- bring a paper application form from “Reserve+”, translated into Spanish;
- open the app directly at the station for verification;
- confirm that the information in the paper document matches the data in the app.
At the same time, official information regarding the temporary protection procedure in Spain requires the submission of documents proving identity and confirming the right to protection. The official website of the Spanish government states that, following a positive decision, the applicant will receive a temporary protection certificate containing an NIE, a case number, and a date of birth.
