Zelenskyy appealed to Trump for urgent reinforcement of air defense

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy sent an urgent letter to U.S. President Donald Trump, highlighting the critical shortage of air defense systems in Ukraine.

This was reported by the Kyiv Independent and confirmed by the president’s communications adviser, Dmytro Lytvyn, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

In the letter, which journalists have seen, Zelenskyy emphasizes:

“When it comes to air defense against missiles, we rely on our friends. When it comes to protection against ballistic missiles, we rely almost exclusively on the United States.”

The President of Ukraine also requests assistance in providing Ukraine with Patriot PAC-3 missiles and additional systems to defend against Russian missile attacks.

The letter was sent not only to the U.S. President but also to Congress to underscore the importance of U.S. support at all levels.

Why Ukraine Needs Patriot Missiles

Patriot PAC-3s are modern interceptors that differ from previous versions in that they strike the target with a direct hit at high speed, allowing them to effectively destroy ballistic missiles. Ukraine currently has a critical shortage of such missiles, which leaves the country vulnerable to Russian missile threats.

Zelenskyy noted that Middle Eastern countries used over 800 PAC-3 missiles during recent conflicts, whereas Ukraine has never possessed such a quantity at one time.

The president even proposed a swap with Middle Eastern countries: receiving missiles in exchange for interceptor drones.
