Since the beginning of 2026, Ukrainian seaports have handled 40 million metric tons of cargo; more than half of this volume—over 20 million metric tons—consists of agricultural products that ensure food security for dozens of countries around the world.
This was reported by Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
“This result was achieved despite constant Russian attacks. Since the beginning of the year, the enemy has launched more than 1,500 attack drones at Ukrainian ports,” he wrote.
Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has damaged or destroyed 966 port infrastructure facilities and more than 200 civilian vessels. As a result of the attacks on ports, 257 civilians were injured or killed.
“Despite all the challenges, the Ukrainian maritime corridor continues to operate. The ports ensure the stable export of Ukrainian products, serve as a pillar of the national economy, and maintain Ukraine’s role as a key participant in global logistics and food supply chains,” the minister noted.

He emphasized that even amid the war, Ukraine ensures the operation of critical infrastructure and remains a reliable partner for the world.
“40 million metric tons—this is the result of the work of port workers, sailors, railroad workers, logistics specialists, businesses, the military, and our international partners,” Kuleba wrote.
As a reminder: Since September 2023, 200 million metric tons of cargo have been transported through the Ukrainian maritime corridor, of which 118 million metric tons is grain.
Russian shelling of ports and ships
In January, it was reported that since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has destroyed and damaged 686 port infrastructure facilities and 150 civilian vessels, and damaged nearly 24,000 railway infrastructure facilities.
Throughout 2025, the Russians carried out 22 attacks on vessels in the ports of the Odesa region and in the Black Sea, affecting a total of 39 ships and watercraft.
Over the course of the year, the intensity of shelling targeting port infrastructure increased significantly: while 36 attacks were recorded in 2024, that number rose to 96 in 2025. In 2025, 325 port infrastructure facilities were damaged.
Ukraine’s seaports exceeded their annual cargo turnover targets by more than 95%. According to the plan, cargo turnover for seaports in 2025 was set at 86.2 million metric tons. The actual result was 82.2 million metric tons, representing 95.36% of the target.
