600–800 billion rubles: Russia has calculated the losses from the attacks on Wildberries

The total losses incurred by the Russian marketplace Wildberries and its sellers as a result of Ukrainian drone strikes could reach 600–800 billion rubles. According to market participants’ estimates, the attacks on warehouse infrastructure have affected more than 400,000 sellers. This was reported by the publication “Meduza,” as cited by "Komersant Ukrainian".
Margarita Evstigneeva, head of the Russian Association of Suppliers of Goods for E-commerce Platforms, stated that sellers’ losses, including lost profits, amount to 600–700 billion rubles.
“She estimates the cost of the lost goods at 200–300 billion rubles. According to Yevstigneyeva, some sellers lost up to 95% of their inventory as a result of the fires,” the publication notes.
Restoring the warehouses could cost hundreds of billions of rubles
Sergey Semko, a leading analyst at Data Insight, estimates Wildberries’ own costs for restoring damaged warehouses and infrastructure at 147–223 billion rubles.
If the facilities have to be completely dismantled, waste removed, and the sites reclaimed, the costs could rise to 169–278.9 billion rubles.
Semko estimates sellers’ losses at an additional 445–507.8 billion rubles.
“Thus, the total potential losses for Wildberries and sellers can currently be estimated at between 600 and 800 billion rubles,” the statement reads.
Strikes on Wildberries Warehouses
It was previously reported that major Wildberries logistics facilities in Russia were hit as a result of Ukrainian strikes. According to Data Insight’s estimates, the marketplace lost about one-third of its warehouse capacity, and at least 12 large hubs were virtually destroyed.

As Reuters reported, analysts had previously estimated the value of goods in the damaged warehouses at approximately 480 billion rubles.
For comparison, this amount is comparable to the annual budgets of some of Russia’s wealthiest regions: the budget of the Krasnoyarsk Krai is about 527 billion rubles, and that of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug is 476 billion.
Wildberries’ losses already exceed the annual budget of the Irkutsk Region by about 1.6 times and are nearly four times the budgets of the Smolensk or Penza Regions.
Wildberries controls about half of the Russian e-commerce market, so the consequences of the destruction of its logistics capabilities could extend far beyond the company itself.
Previously, sources at The Bell suggested that Tatiana Kim’s company might need government support. Wildberries’ total need for additional funding was estimated at up to 1.3 trillion rubles.
The situation is complicated by the Russian Federation’s federal budget deficit, which reached 6.5 trillion rubles in January–July. One of the main reasons for the rise in spending remains Russia’s costs for the war against Ukraine.
