A significant portion of the tank farm at the Tuapse Oil Refinery in the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation, which was targeted by Ukrainian drones, has been damaged or destroyed. This conclusion was reached by journalists from the Telegram channel Exilenova+, who on Sunday, April 26, published satellite images of the facility, writes "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to the channel, pumping stations, a railway oil loading rack, as well as process pipelines and piping assemblies were damaged.
Even without direct hits to the processing facilities, such damage significantly limits the ability to receive, store, and ship oil and petroleum products, reducing the facility’s overall operational efficiency, experts noted.
Ukrainian OSINT project: 61% of tanks will be out of service in the near future
Meanwhile, according to the Ukrainian OSINT project “Oko Gora ✙ News and Analytics,” 24 tanks (52%) have been destroyed and 4 tanks (9%) damaged. Thus, 61% of the tanks will not be operational in the near future, the Telegram channel predicts.
Since 2022, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have attacked the Tuapse Oil Refinery at least nine times
The first strike by Ukrainian drones was recorded on April 16, with a second strike on April 20. The Krasnodar Krai Operational Headquarters reported one fatality and two injuries as a result of the attack. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) confirmed that it had struck the refinery’s port facility located in the area.
“A hit on the tank farm was recorded, followed by a fire on the facility’s grounds,” the AFU stated.
Smoke from burning petroleum products spread for hundreds of kilometers along the Black Sea coast. It was visually observed in neighboring settlements. According to satellite images, the plume reached the Stavropol Krai.
Since 2022, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have attacked the Tuapse Oil Refinery at least nine times. The current strikes on oil transshipment ports have reduced the volume of oil exports from Russia by sea to its lowest levels since the summer of 2024.
