The State Tax Service of Ukraine (STS) has warned citizens about a new wave of fake emails purporting to be sent on its behalf.
This is stated in a notice on the STU’s official website, reports "Komersant Ukrainian".
“Taxpayers are receiving a large number of emails purporting to come from the State Tax Service of Ukraine. The subject lines of these emails mention ‘discrepancies in reporting,’ but in reality, they have no connection to the tax service,” the tax service stated.

Warning
The emails are sent from third-party email addresses and contain malicious attachments or links. Opening them can lead to computer infection and grant attackers hidden access to users’ devices.
The State Tax Service emphasizes:
“All official State Tax Service email addresses have the @tax.gov.ua domain, and the official email address is [email protected]. If an email comes from a different domain, it is a sign of a forgery.”
Attachments in .pdf, .zip, and .rar formats, as well as files with .exe and .scr extensions, pose a particular danger, as they may contain hidden remote access software.
The Tax Service urges you to follow basic cybersecurity rules:
- Do not open suspicious files.
- Carefully check the sender’s address and do not trust even familiar contacts without additional confirmation.
As a reminder, in mid-April, there was also a surge in fraudulent emails mimicking official communications from the National Agency for Corruption Prevention.
