Gereg’s “Epicentre” will now also sell gas and electricity

The National Energy and Utilities Regulatory Commission (NEURC) has granted licences for the supply of natural gas and electricity to Epicentre Generation LLC. This was reported by the commission, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"
Epicentre Generation was registered recently, on 4 July 2024. Its main activity is electricity trading. The ultimate beneficiaries (owners) of the LLC are the spouses Oleksandr and Halyna Gerega, who are known as the founders of the Epicentr hypermarket chain.
Obtaining the licences from the NEURC will allow the newly established company to legally carry out business activities in the supply of natural gas and electricity.
The Gerehas
Oleksandr and Galyna Gerega are successful Ukrainian businessmen who have built a large business group covering various areas from retail to agribusiness.
The core of their business is the Epicentr K chain of construction and household hypermarkets, which Oleksandr Gerega founded in 2003. This chain became the largest in Ukraine. Later, it was joined by the Nova Liniya chain of stores.
The Gerega business group is actively developing in other areas as well. In particular, they have invested more than UAH 6 billion in the agricultural sector, creating a large agricultural holding with more than 120,000 hectares of land. The group also includes ceramic tile production, logistics complexes, construction companies and other assets.
According to Forbes and other business publications, the Gereg couple’s total wealth is estimated at hundreds of millions of dollars. For example, in 2019, Novoe Vremya magazine estimated their net worth at $930 million, placing them 7th in the ranking of the richest Ukrainians.
