Facebook Is Down for Users: A Global Outage Has Occurred

On Sunday, July 19, Facebook users experienced widespread problems accessing the social network—the site would not load, and some accounts were temporarily blocked due to a technical glitch. Meta has not yet explained what exactly caused the outage, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
The monitoring service Downdetector reported a sudden global technical outage affecting Facebook. According to the service, 58% of users are reporting issues with the website, 32% are having trouble logging into their accounts, and 7% are experiencing problems with the mobile app.
“Your account is temporarily unavailable. Your account is currently unavailable due to a site malfunction. We hope this issue will be resolved soon,” is the message users see when trying to log in.
For many users, the desktop version of Facebook won’t open at all. The mobile app is partially functional but glitchy—some features freeze or don’t respond. Separately, users are reporting problems uploading photos and videos, as well as difficulties sending messages via the linked Messenger service.
How long will it take to restore service?
It is currently unknown exactly when Meta will restore stable operation of the platform. Large tech companies typically resolve such large-scale outages within a few hours, but the company has not released any official estimates.
Users who see a message stating that their account is temporarily unavailable should wait and try logging in later—the issue is technical in nature and is not related to any specific user’s actions.
