At least seven people have died in France as a result of the heatwave that swept the country late last week. This has posed a challenge for citizens and government officials as they strive to cope with the extreme weather conditions.

This was stated by French government spokesperson Maud Bregon, according to France Télévisions, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian"

French government spokesperson Maud Bregon reported that all fatalities were linked to the heatwave.

“At least five people drowned, and two others died during running events in Paris and Lyon,” she noted. One of the causes of death was hyperthermia, which is often a consequence of excessive heat.

In light of the incidents, Sports Minister Marine Ferrari urged caution during physical activity.

She emphasized:

“If weather conditions continue to deteriorate, sporting events may be canceled or postponed.”
