Investments in military bonds set a record

In July 2026, the volume of investments by individuals in domestic government bonds (OVDP) continued to grow. As of August 3, 2026, the OVDP portfolio held by individuals reached 159.3 billion hryvnia. This is the highest figure in the history of the domestic government bond market. This was reported by the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
“This is the highest figure in the entire history of the domestic government bond market. In July alone, Ukrainians increased their investments by more than 9.3 billion hryvnias, which was the largest increase among all categories of investors,” the statement said.
The total volume of OVDPs in circulation currently stands at 2 trillion hryvnias. Banks remain the largest holders of government securities, with their portfolio growing over the month from 916.3 billion hryvnias to 933 billion hryvnias.

Other holders of government bonds include:
- legal entities – 217.1 billion hryvnias;
- the National Bank of Ukraine – 655.8 billion hryvnias;
- insurance companies – 25.7 billion hryvnias;
- non-residents – 18.6 billion hryvnias;
- local governments – 0.3 billion hryvnias.

How Much Money Did the Government Raise Through Government Bonds and How to Buy Them
In July, the Ministry of Finance held 13 auctions for the placement of domestic government bonds, which raised over 40.95 billion hryvnias for the state budget. The weighted average yield on the placed securities was 12.84%.

In addition, the Ministry of Finance successfully held an auction to exchange government bonds. Investors exchanged securities maturing in August 2026 for a new issue maturing in December 2029. The total volume of satisfied bids reached 15 billion hryvnias.
From January through July 2026, the government raised 310.2 billion hryvnias through the government bond market, of which 230 billion hryvnias were raised through primary auctions, and another 80.2 billion hryvnias through exchange auctions.
The Ministry of Finance emphasizes that during a full-scale war, the domestic government bond market remains one of the key sources of funding for the state budget. Anyone can purchase military bonds through the “Diya” app, banks that deal in government securities, or licensed brokers. The face value of a single bond is 1,000 hryvnias, 1,000 U.S. dollars, or 1,000 euros.
