GUR hackers attacked Russian Lukoil: details

On New Year’s Eve, the GRU’s specialists carried out another cyberattack on Russian oil companies. This was reported by Suspilne TV channel, citing its own intelligence sources, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports.
The main target of the attack was the resources of the Lukoil oil company, which is involved in the supply of Russian occupation forces.
In particular, the company’s digital resources were affected, and as a result, the company’s customers were unable to pay at gas stations through a mobile application. The digital resources of Evotor smart terminals and the Chesnyi Znak (Honest Mark) unified digital product labeling system were also attacked.
The DDOS attack caused significant inconveniences and losses in the trade sector, as consumers were unable to purchase goods due to malfunctions in payment systems.
“Lukoil is one of Russia’s largest oil companies and the second largest oil producer in Russia. The company has been operating since 1991. The company’s key executives at different times were: Vagit Alekperov, Vitaly Robertus, as well as Leonid Fedun and Igor Lishnits.
The company is interested in the markets of Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, and the Baltic States. The company hopes to regain leadership in oil production. In April 2023, the company was fined €100 million in Bulgaria for abusing its dominant position.
“Evotor is a Russian IT company, a manufacturer of smart online cash registers (a type of cash register) and software. According to the company’s own data, Evotor’s share of the online cash register market in the small and microbusiness segment is 25%. As of December 2020, 700 thousand Evotor smart terminals were activated in Russia. At the end of 2019, Evotor became one of the three largest IT suppliers to the retail industry with revenues of RUB 6.825 billion.
