Movie Distribution in Ukraine: Russian Passports Found in Possession of Top Company Owners

According to a YouControl study, of the 278 companies involved in film distribution in Ukraine, 18 are key players. Their owners or co-owners include representatives from various countries, including Cyprus, the United Kingdom, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, and Russia.
This is stated in the YouControl study, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
The YouControl analysis revealed that two of these 18 companies have probable ties to Russia, and three others are subject to sanctions. In particular, one of the ultimate beneficiaries of LLC “KINOTEATR NEPTUN” is Cypriot citizen Sofoklis Papavarnavas, who was added to Ukraine’s sanctions list in May 2023.

Ownership Structure and Foreign Investments
The ownership structure of key companies shows that representatives of Cyprus are shareholders in eight companies. For example, “TRIUMF MEDIA GROUP” and “BLOCKBUSTER KINO” have Cypriot shareholders, while the beneficiaries of five of them are Ukrainian citizens.
“AGARTEK INVESTMENTS LIMITED” from Cyprus is a shareholder in “VALENTINA CINEMA,” whose ultimate beneficiaries are sanctioned individuals Ihor Kolomoyskyi and Hennadiy Boholyubov.
British legal entities are shareholders in three companies. For example, “SALUT CINEMA” and “CINEMA CENTER” have a common shareholder—GLOBAL LEADING INVESTMENT LLP, which was liquidated in September 2018.
Among the companies with co-owners from the U.S. are “ENKOR” and “DOMION.” A Russian citizen, Vyacheslav Loshkarev, is also a shareholder in the latter.
Among the founders or beneficiaries of Ukrainian companies engaged in film distribution are individuals from Germany, Latvia, Estonia, and Poland. In particular, one of the ultimate beneficiaries of “KASSANDRA-PLUS” is Polish citizen Bogdan Batruch.
