The Ministry of Community and Territorial Development held another tender for interregional bus routes.

Based on the results of the competition for interregional bus routes, 47 carriers were selected to transport passengers on 65 corresponding routes. The routes include Kyiv–Odesa, Kyiv–Kharkiv, Kyiv–Vinnytsia, and others, according to the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".

According to the report, 200 routes from most regions of Ukraine were put up for the tender. Consequently, carriers submitted 119 bids for the aforementioned routes.

“We are continuing the reform of interregional bus transportation and creating transparent rules for market access. Thanks to the digitization of tender procedures, carriers can submit documents online, and the state can promptly select carriers for routes that are important for people’s mobility,” said Serhiy Derkach, Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development.

It is noted that among other winning carriers, routes have also been selected for Kyiv–Ternopil, Kyiv–Khmelnytskyi, Lviv–Odesa, Lutsk–Lviv, Mykolaiv – Odesa, Voznesensk – Odesa, Izmail – Kyiv, Boryspil – Kyiv – Lviv, Boryspil – Kyiv – Odesa, Boryspil – Kyiv – Uzhhorod, and others.

It is expected that the winners of the competition will be able to operate the routes in accordance with the requirements of the law and the terms of the competition.

The agency noted that this year saw the largest tender for servicing interregional bus routes under a new digital procedure. Specifically, documents were submitted through the carrier’s online account in the Unified Complex of Information Systems for Land Transport Safety.

“One of the key conditions for participation in the tender was the availability of a properly executed protocol of mandatory technical inspection of vehicles. This is an important component of ensuring the safety of passenger transportation and improving the quality of transport services,” the ministry added.

In addition, the digitization of the bus transportation sector is ongoing, with the “Ukrtransbezpeka” Unified Information Systems Complex now offering the functionality to make changes to permits for interregional routes.

This feature allows carriers to submit applications for route extensions, route shortening, changes to the route, adjustments to the list of stops, or updates to schedules, as well as to terminate a permit for operating an interregional bus route.

It is noted that since the introduction of this feature, the ministry has approved 47 applications submitted electronically.

Separately, the Ministry of Development clarified that since the launch of the electronic tender procedure, winners have been selected for a significant number of interregional routes. As of now, 112 carriers provide service on 155 interregional routes.
