Revenue from the “Google tax” increased significantly in 2026

In the first four months of 2026, non-resident companies providing electronic services to Ukrainian users paid over 6.9 billion hryvnias to the state budget through the so-called “Google tax.” This represents a significant increase in revenue, demonstrating the effectiveness of Ukraine’s tax policy in this area. This was reported by Lesya Karnaukh, acting head of the State Tax Service, according to "Komersant Ukrainian".
According to Lesya Karnaukh, acting head of the State Tax Service, revenue from this tax amounted to 52 million euros or 97.6 million U.S. dollars in currency terms. Revenue increased by 1.5 billion hryvnias compared to the same period last year.

Largest Taxpayers
Among the companies that are the largest payers of the “Google tax” are such giants as Apple, Google, Meta, Netflix, Sony, Valve, Etsy, Epic Games, and Wargaming. These companies actively use the Ukrainian market and contribute to its development.
Lesya Karnaukh reported that since the beginning of 2026, another 9 non-resident companies have registered as VAT payers in Ukraine, bringing the total number to 154 international companies that officially pay this tax.
In the first quarter of 2026, revenue from the “Google tax” amounted to 4.5 billion hryvnias, which is 28% more than in the same period of the previous year.
What is the “Google tax”?
The “Google tax” is a special value-added tax (VAT) paid by non-resident companies for providing electronic services to users in Ukraine.
The legislative changes that introduced this tax were intended to ensure a level playing field for all market participants, regardless of their jurisdiction.
