Unidentified persons are obstructing the activities of the Mezhyhirya State Park and Monument and blocking its work. This was reported by the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“On 29 April, the process of transferring the seized property, which was transferred to the management of the ARMA by a court decision, was to begin. For this purpose, members of a special interdepartmental commission consisting of representatives of the park’s administration, the Asset Recovery and Management Agency (ARMA), the State Property Fund of Ukraine and the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office arrived at the park.
However, unidentified persons blocked the entrance to the park and did not allow members of the interagency commission to enter the territory, making it impossible for them to work.
“Blocking the work of the interdepartmental commission is groundless and contrary to Ukrainian law. The state authorities are acting pursuant to the laws of Ukraine and the Government’s decision authorising them to transfer the seized assets to the management of the state institution Mezhyhirya Park-Monument of Landscape Art of National Importance. So, regardless of any obstacles, this process will take place, and the park-monument will start its work for the benefit of the state,”
– emphasised Serhiy Yuzvenko, acting director of the park.
The prosecutor’s office stressed that “an individual, a representative of an NGO, who has been in the park and has been managing the seized property of Mezhyhiria for more than 10 years, has been responsible for storing it since 2014 and on his own initiative.”
In 2023, Mezhyhiria was returned to state ownership, and a new nature reserve on 138.6 hectares of land was created on its territory.
The official opening of the Mezhyhirya State Park is scheduled for May.
