Conservatives from the center-right Democratic Rally (DISY) party have won the Cypriot parliamentary elections, securing 27.1% of the vote with 100% of ballots counted. This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing DW.

The far-left Progressive Party of Working People of Cyprus (AKEL) received 23.9%. The far-right National Popular Front (ELAM) received 10.9%.

The centrist Democratic Party (DIKO) garnered 10% of the vote, while the newly formed parties—the centrist reformist ALMA (ALMA) and “Direct Democracy”—received 5.8% and 5.4%, respectively. Both will enter parliament, having cleared the 3.6% threshold. ALMA was formed in 2025 by former Court of Auditors President Odysseas Michailidis, while the other was founded by popular blogger and Member of the European Parliament Fidias Panayotou. In May 2025, he visited Moscow and even recorded a video featuring views of the Kremlin, after which the European Parliament launched an investigation into him.

Political power lies with the President of Cyprus

The elections have no direct impact on the structure of the government. According to the constitution, political power in the country belongs to the head of state, who is elected directly. Conservative President Nicos Christodoulides, who has held this office since 2023, forms the cabinet and heads it. Parliament primarily performs oversight functions.

The election campaign in this EU member state was shaped, among other things, by issues such as rising prices, the housing crisis, and migration.
