Germany’s Hensoldt and Ukraine’s Fire Point signed a memorandum of understanding at a specialized exhibition in Paris. German specialists will be responsible for the production, testing, and delivery of radar systems, while Ukrainian specialists will handle the overall concept and delivery of FP-7 missiles, according to a Hensoldt press release, as reported by "Komersant Ukrainian".
The FREYJA air defense system is designed to detect and intercept ballistic missiles. It is touted as a more effective and cheaper alternative to the American Patriot system. According to the published information, the German company Hensoldt will be responsible for the production, testing, and delivery of radar systems.

The TRML-4D radar (a highly mobile, multifunctional, medium-range radar from Hensoldt) will play a key role in the FREYJA system. Hensoldt states that the TRML-4D has proven its effectiveness over the past few years of operation.
The Ukrainian side will serve as the prime contractor, according to the text of the memorandum. Fire Point will bear overall responsibility for the FREYJA system concept: it will manufacture, test, and supply FP-7 missiles, launchers, and control systems. Another key task will be integrating the main components into a single system.
“Ukraine has demonstrated how quickly innovations can emerge under real operational pressure. Our task is to combine this speed with proven sensor technology, industrial scalability, and system integration. Together with local manufacturers and European partners, we want to help close one of the most pressing gaps in air and missile defense,” said Hensoldt CEO Oliver Dörre on the company’s official website.
The parties signed a memorandum of understanding on the joint integration of components into a ground-based air defense system during the Eurosatory trade show in Paris.
This year’s exhibition will run through June 19. Currently, innovations from more than 2,000 companies in the defense and national security industries from 60 countries are on display there.
