Suspicions against Yermak: The Office of the President comments on the investigation

11 May 23:55

The Office of the President has responded to reports that a notice of suspicion has been served on former Office of the President head Andriy Yermak. Officials urged people not to rush to judgment, as procedural actions in the case are still ongoing. This was stated by the President’s communications adviser, Dmytro Lytvyn, in response to questions from journalists, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

According to media reports, he was asked about President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s stance on the charges filed against Andriy Yermak under the article on the legalization of property obtained by criminal means.

What the President’s Office said

Dmytro Lytvyn stated that this context has long been present in the media and is being actively covered. At the same time, he said, it is too early to draw conclusions, as legal proceedings are still ongoing.

“This issue has long been present in the media and is widely covered, so there’s no reason to be surprised. As we can see, the proceedings are still ongoing, so it’s too early to make any assessments,” Lytvyn said.

Thus, the Office of the President refrained from offering a political or legal assessment of the situation until the conclusion of the investigative proceedings.

What is the essence of the case

According to media reports, NABU and the SAPO announced the exposure of a group that may have been involved in the laundering of approximately 460 million hryvnias through an elite construction project near Kyiv. As part of this investigation, the former head of the Office of the President of Ukraine was reportedly served with a notice of suspicion.

According to investigators, the individuals involved in the project allegedly planned to build several residences for personal use.

To conceal the origin of the funds, investigators say, they may have used the “Sunny Beach” cooperative and cash of illegal origin.

What Yermak Himself Said

According to media reports , Andriy Yermak stated that he would provide comments after the investigative actions are completed. When asked about luxury homes, he replied that he owns only an apartment.

“I don’t own a single house; I only have one apartment and one car,” the media quoted Yermak as saying.

NABU Raids and the “Midas” Case: What Is Known

On November 28, 2025, detectives from the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and prosecutors from the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO) conducted searches at the office of Andriy Yermak, then-head of the Office of the President.

On the same day, Yermak submitted his resignation, which was signed by the president.

The searches may have been related to the investigation of the so-called “Midas case,” which concerns possible corruption schemes in the energy sector. As part of this investigation, investigators are examining the activities of a number of former high-ranking officials and businessmen, including Timur Mindich, co-owner of the “Kvartal-95” studio.

However, the president emphasized that this particular investigation was not the reason for the personnel decision.

Yermak’s resignation was one of the most high-profile personnel changes

Andriy Yermak headed the Office of the President of Ukraine and was one of the state’s key representatives on the international stage, particularly in negotiations with allies regarding military and financial support.

His dismissal caused a significant stir both in Ukraine and among international partners, as he played a crucial role in diplomatic processes during the full-scale war.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, commenting on this decision, made it clear that the personnel changes were driven by internal management considerations, not anti-corruption investigations or political pressure.
