Head of the Army Academy dismissed after Defense Ministry audit

Defense Minister Rustem Umerov has dismissed the head of the Petro Sahaidachny National Army Academy, Lieutenant General Pavlo Tkachuk. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense, "Komersant Ukrainian" reports
“During the visit of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Lviv, Defense Minister Rustem Umerov reported to the head of state on the results of the audit of the Main Inspectorate of the Ministry of Defense regarding the activities of the National Army Academy and numerous violations identified by the GIMO,” the statement said.
It is noted that the president ordered to immediately remedy the situation.
“Today, by order of the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Pavlo Tkachuk was dismissed from the post of head of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachny National Army Academy,” the Defense Ministry said.
It should be noted that cadets of the National Army Academy in Lviv complained about harassment, humiliation and bullying. They also reported the lack of necessary medicines in the infirmary, poor quality of food and the so-called “company cashier” when cadets had to chip in to buy a printer, paper and detergents.
Earlier in December, First Deputy Defense Minister Ivan Havryliuk said that the decision on Tkachuk had already been made and that he would be dismissed due to the cadets’ complaints.
What is known about Pavlo Tkachuk

Pavlo Tkachuk is a lieutenant general, professor, doctor of historical sciences.
Lieutenant General Pavlo Tkachuk has been the head of the Hetman Petro Sahaidachny National Army Academy since 2009. In the same year, he was awarded a doctorate in history with a degree in military history.
In 2010, he was a member of the Lviv City Council from the Party of Regions, and in 2013 he became a non-factional member.
Lieutenant General is a current deputy of the Lviv Regional Council from the Servant of the People party.
Pavlo Tkachuk has received numerous honors, awards and orders.
