Ukraine may face a new wave of emigration after the war: Novak identifies the main risk

Once the war ends, Ukraine may face a new wave of labor emigration. Some men will want to go abroad to join their families or in search of work.

Economist Andriy Novak made this statement on the "Komersant Ukrainian" YouTube channel .

According to him, the main factor influencing people’s decision to stay or leave is income level.

“Whether we like it or not, people are guided by income levels and standards of living. If these are significantly higher abroad, most people will choose that,” Novak explained.

The economist is convinced that patriotic appeals alone are not enough to stop emigration. To do so, competitive living conditions must be created within the country.

“Only raising income levels and the quality of life in Ukraine will reduce Ukrainians’ desire to leave the country,” he emphasized.

According to Novak, after the war, the government will have to compete for its own citizens not with slogans, but by providing real opportunities for work, development, and a decent life. This will be the key factor in the battle for the country’s human capital.
