Home appliances designed for the Ukrainian market are now sold in Russia

Bosch, Delonghi and Philips household appliances manufactured specifically for the Ukrainian market have begun to enter Russia and are sold there through local marketplaces and electronics retailers. The shipments are made through the Turkish, Polish and Baltic structures of foreign manufacturers in order to maintain their positions in the Russian market. It was reported by [Kommersant]

Experts believe that foreign factories have redirected flows as a result of a drop in demand for household appliances in Ukraine due to the military action.

For example, the Russian marketplaces Ozon, Wildberries and Yandex Market have launched sales of Bosch appliances intended for the Ukrainian market, which is confirmed by Ukrainian stickers and instructions.

Such deliveries to Russia are massive, as some foreign brands have recommended that their Turkish, Polish and Baltic factories continue to supply to maintain their positions in the Russian market.

“We were convinced that the appliances were designed for the Ukrainian market, as we ordered a Bosch SMV24AX00K dishwasher ourselves through the domestic marketplace. The appliances arrived with Ukrainian stickers,”

– commented the CEO of a Russian company.

In addition to Bosch, household appliances made by Italian Delonghi and Dutch Philips are also being smuggled into Russia.

The reason for the redirection of goods flows is a sharp drop in demand for appliances in Ukraine due to the war and emigration of the population.

Bosch’s former Russian subsidiary denies supplying equipment to the Ukrainian market.

Overall, Western companies are doing well in Russia. For example, from March 2023 to March 2024, 284,000 dishwashers worth RUB 9.8 billion were allegedly sold in Russia. This is a 9% increase in terms of volume and a 19% increase in monetary terms compared to 2022.
