Weather in Ukraine on May 9: Rain and thunderstorms are expected in some regions

On Saturday, May 9, the weather in Ukraine will be warm, but some regions will experience brief showers and thunderstorms. Precipitation is expected in most northern and central regions, in the Carpathian region, and in the afternoon also in the east of the country. Meanwhile, no significant precipitation is forecast for the rest of the country.

According to the forecast, on May 9, Ukraine will be cloudy with some sunny breaks, and daytime temperatures will reach 20–25°C; it will be cooler in the west—13–18°C.
Where will there be rain and thunderstorms on May 9?
According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, short-lived rain and thunderstorms are expected in some areas across most of the northern and central regions.
Precipitation is also forecast:
- in the Carpathian region;
- during the day — in the eastern regions;
- in some areas where atmospheric fronts will pass through.
No significant precipitation is expected in the rest of Ukraine.
What will the air temperature be?
On the night of May 9, temperatures in Ukraine will range from 7° to 12°.
During the day, the air will warm up to 20–25°. It will be coolest in the western regions, where temperatures are expected to range from 13–18°.
In other words, after a period of nearly summer-like warmth, cooler air is gradually moving into some regions, though temperatures will remain comfortable in most areas.
Weather in Kyiv on May 9
Variable cloudiness is also expected in Kyiv and the surrounding region on May 9. Short-lived rain is possible in some areas, with thunderstorms throughout the region.
Temperatures in the Kyiv region will range from 7 to 12° at night and 20 to 25° during the day. In the capital, temperatures are forecast to be 10 to 12° at night and 21 to 23° during the day.
Will the weather change this weekend
The weather in Ukraine will gradually change this coming weekend. After unseasonably warm weather, the country will see rain, thunderstorms, and a drop in temperatures.
According to the forecast by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, short-lived rains and, in some places, thunderstorms are expected in Ukraine on May 9–10. On May 10, heavy rains are possible in some areas of the Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, and Kyiv regions, and during the day also in the Poltava and Sumy regions.
