Ukrainian producers have raised carrot prices: how much does a kilogram cost?

8 May 20:47

Ukrainian producers are currently shipping high-quality carrots at prices ranging from 9 to 16 UAH/kg ($0.21–0.36/kg). This is approximately 22% higher than at the end of the previous workweek.

This was reported by analysts from the EastFruit project , according to "Komersant Ukrainian".

As experts explain, carrot stocks in local farms’ storage facilities are nearly depleted, allowing farmers who still have certain volumes of produce to raise their selling prices.

Reasons for the price increase

The main reason for the price increase is low carrot stocks in storage facilities.

According to analysts:

“stocks of this product in local farms’ storage facilities are virtually depleted, while demand for carrots remains relatively stable.”

This has created conditions for producers to raise prices.

Interestingly, a similar situation was observed on the Ukrainian carrot market a year ago, but prices for high-quality products were, on average, 3.2 times higher than they are now.

Against the backdrop of rising carrot prices, the greenhouse vegetable market is seeing the opposite trend.

For example, greenhouse cucumbers in Ukraine fell in price by 20% over the week. The decline in prices for greenhouse tomatoes also continues , driven by increased harvest volumes at greenhouse farms and reduced demand in this segment.

As a reminder, in April 2026, annual inflation in Ukraine accelerated to 8.6%, indicating a significant rise in prices across the country.
