A train from Kyiv will take passengers almost all the way to the Chisinau airport: how the free shuttle works

13 August 11:45

Passengers on international train No. 351/352 from Kyiv to Chisinau now have an easier route to Moldova’s main airport. The train will now stop at Revaka Station, from where free buses will run to the passenger terminal. This was announced by Ukrzaliznytsia and Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi, according to "Komersant Ukrainian"

The changes will take effect on August 17 under an agreement between Ukraine and Moldova.

How to get from Kyiv to Chisinau Airport by train

To use the new route, passengers need to purchase a regular ticket for train No. 351/352 Kyiv–Chisinau. The final destination listed on the ticket must be Chisinau, even if the passenger plans to get off later at Revaca Station.

During the trip, you must inform the conductor that your final destination is the airport.

Here’s what to do:

  1. Purchase a ticket to Chisinau.
  2. In the train car, inform the conductor that you are traveling to the airport.
  3. Do not get off at the central train station in Chisinau.
  4. Continue your journey to Revaca Station.
  5. Transfer to a special bus to the airport.

You do not need to buy a separate train ticket to Revaca.

Do you have to pay for the airport shuttle?

The transfer from Revaca Station to Chisinau International Airport will be free for train passengers.

The buses are provided by the Moldovan side. They will pick up passengers near the train station and take them directly to the airport.

This means passengers will not have to:

  • travel to Chisinau Central Station;
  • look for public transportation;
  • order a taxi;
  • pay separately for a shuttle;
  • return from the city center to the airport.

The new plan is designed to shorten travel time and reduce the risk of missing a flight.

Where is Revaca Station located?

Revaca is a train station near Chisinau, located much closer to the international airport than the central station in the Moldovan capital.

Previously, passengers from Ukraine traveled to the terminal station in Chisinau, after which they had to make a separate trip to the airport by car. Now, after leaving the central station, the train will continue on to Revaca, where a bus will be waiting for travelers.

However, the train itself will not enter the airport grounds directly. Passengers will cover the final leg of the route by shuttle.

When Will the New Stop Begin Operating?

According to Prime Minister Serhiy Koretskyi, the revised route will take effect on August 17.

Before introducing the regular stop, the Ukrainian and Moldovan railways conducted a test run. In April 2026, Train No. 351 from Kyiv to Chisinau was extended on a trial basis to Revaca Station.

The test demonstrated significant demand among Ukrainians who use Moldova’s airport to travel to other countries.

Following the suspension of domestic air service in Ukraine, Chisinau Airport has become one of the key international hubs for Ukrainian passengers.

How to get from Chisinau Airport back to Kyiv

The new route does not yet operate in the opposite direction. The Chisinau–Kyiv train will not pick up passengers from Revaka Station.

Therefore, before returning to Ukraine, you must:

  • travel on your own from the airport to Chisinau Central Station;
  • arrive at the station with plenty of time to spare;
  • go through the necessary procedures and board the train to Kyiv.

The free shuttle is guaranteed only for passengers arriving from Ukraine and getting off at Revaca.

Ukrzaliznytsia has not indicated whether it plans to introduce a similar shuttle service in the opposite direction in the future.

Does the train run daily?

In June, service between Kyiv and Chisinau was switched to a daily schedule thanks to the operation of two trains running on a coordinated schedule.

When searching for tickets, passengers may see different train numbers depending on the date. Therefore , it’s a good idea to check the route in the app or on the Ukrzaliznytsia website before purchasing a ticket .

The train also plans to use a specially equipped children’s car, designed for comfortable travel for families with children.
