Dust from the Caspian Sea: when will the air situation in Ukraine improve?

The dust content of the atmosphere in Ukraine remains at the same level as at the beginning of the week. The main reason for this is a dust storm located near the Caspian Sea, from where the wind brings dust to our country. The situation is expected to improve over the weekend due to precipitation, but not in all regions. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre.
“The dustiness of the atmosphere remains the same as it has been since the beginning of the week. The main reason is the wind from the southeast, as that is where the dusty air continues to come from. The dust storm is located far away near the Caspian Sea, and the dust itself is moving from there, so it does not pose such a significant danger here as, for example, in the place where the storm originated,” the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Centre said.
According to weather forecasters, dust comes to Ukraine in waves, so the dust concentration is constantly changing.
“Yesterday, it accumulated over the Black Sea, and that’s where its concentration is currently highest, as can be seen from satellite images. Today, the dust is being carried to the territory of Ukraine and is gradually spreading over the sky above our country,” the statement said.
At the weekend, an atmospheric front with rains will bring fresh air from the west, which will improve the dust situation. However, the southeastern region will remain without precipitation, so dust will remain in the atmosphere for some time.
