Russia strikes at energy sector, there are significant power outages in 3 regions

14 November 2025 11:47

As a result of nighttime missile and drone attacks by Russian invaders on Ukraine’s energy facilities, energy consumption has significantly decreased and large-scale blackouts have occurred in several regions. This was reported by "Komersant Ukrainian" with reference to Ukrenergo.

Which regions have suffered the most

According to the company, the most affected regions are:

  • Donetsk region.
  • Kyiv region.
  • Odesa region.

A significant number of de-energized consumers have been recorded in these regions. Emergency repair teams are working on the ground to restore power supply as soon as possible.

Schedules of outages and power restrictions

Most regions of Ukraine currently have hourly outage schedules for 2-4 stages, and power restrictions for industrial consumers and businesses. These measures are necessary to stabilize the power system and avoid emergencies.

Despite the difficult situation, the power sector notes that electricity consumption has decreased by 4.8% compared to Thursday morning. This is due to clear weather, which contributes to the efficient operation of household solar power plants.

State of energy consumption

Today, November 14, as of 9:30 a.m., electricity consumption in Ukraine decreased by 4.8% compared to the same indicator of the previous day.

This is due to clear weather in most regions, which contributes to the efficient operation of household solar power plants and reduces the load on the grid.

The daily maximum consumption on November 13 was recorded in the evening and was at the same level as the day before, on November 12.

Ukrenergo’s recommendations for the population

Power engineers urge citizens to use electrical appliances economically:

  • transfer energy-intensive processes to the period of maximum operation of solar power plants – from 11:00 to 13:00
  • use electrical appliances at night – after 22:00, when the load on the grid is the lowest.
  • limit the simultaneous use of powerful household appliances to reduce the duration of forced outages.

“Saving electricity consumption will help reduce the time of forced outages and stabilize the operation of the power system,” the company emphasizes.

What you should pay attention to

Previous attacks by Russia have already led to large-scale damage to infrastructure. The situation remains tense, and residents of the affected regions are advised to be prepared for possible temporary outages.

Ukrenergo continues to promptly eliminate the consequences of the attacks.
