Ukraine launched missile strikes on an oil refinery in Samara and a defense industry plant in Cheboksary: what are the consequences?
10 June 10:12
On the night of June 10, authorities in the Samara Region declared a missile alert. Regional Governor Vyacheslav Fedorishchev urged residents to take shelter indoors and stay away from windows. The alert remained in effect until morning. Fedorishchev did not report on the consequences of the airstrike. According to eyewitness footage, the Kuibyshev Oil Refinery (OR) in Samara was hit. This is reported by "Komersant Ukrainian", citing Russian propaganda media.
It is one of the largest oil industry enterprises in the region, owned by Rosneft. In April, following a drone attack, the refinery halted oil processing. Prior to that, drones had struck it in January.
Cheboksary was also hit by a missile attack this morning.
“At this time, the number of casualties and the number of damaged infrastructure facilities are being determined,” said Chuvashia Governor Oleg Nikolaev. According to Astra, the strikes hit the VNDIR-Progress plant, which had previously been targeted by drones twice on May 5.
The plant manufactures “Kometa” antennas for the Russian army, which protect drones from Ukrainian electronic warfare (EW) systems. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine stated that the plant also produces satellite receivers and antennas for the Glonass, GPS, and Galileo systems. In addition, it produces “Kometa”-type modules used in Shahed kamikaze drones, “Iskander” and “Kalibr” missiles, and aerial bombs.

As a result, fires broke out “at two infrastructure facilities,” Governor Alexander Avdeev reported. “There are no casualties. The Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Russian Guard are carrying out the necessary operational measures,” the regional head noted. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin also reported that since the start of the day on June 10, 12 drones have been shot down as they approached the capital.
The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that over the past night, 326 Ukrainian drones were intercepted and destroyed over 20 Russian regions. The military department did not report any missiles shot down by air defense systems.
